Norton Juster is an American architect and writer. He is famous primarily for authoring books for kids; among them The Phantom Tollbooth and The Dot and the Line.
Juster's dad was an architect, and Juster's brother became an architect as well. He served with the United States Navy before becoming an architect.

Juster created The Phantom Tollbooth during the early 1960s while living in Brooklyn, New York. Jules Feiffer, a neighbor of Juster's, did the illustrations.

Although Juster enjoyed composing, his architectural career remained his primary emphasis. He was also a teacher.
