Patrick Carman is an American writer of the The Land of Elyon series, Atherton series, Elliot's Park series, Skeleton Creek Saga, and the fifth 39 Clues book. His works have been translated into approximately two dozen languages.
Born on February 27th, 1966, in Salem, Oregon. , Carman is a graduate of Willamette High school with a degree in economics. He started out working in advertising, game design, and technology. After a career as an entrepreneur, Carman became an writer, specialized in composing for young adults and children. He is now living in the small city of Walla Walla, Washington, with his wife Karen and two daughters, Reese and Sierra. He has two dogs, Taffy and Otto.

His first book, The Dark Hills Divide, of The Land of Elyon series, was released in 2003. He then proceeded to write the remaining two works of the trilogy before creating the Atherton series from an idea he got while touring around America. With high demand for the best-selling series of works accompanied by videos that are viewed online, Skeleton Creek is the first of its kind. He produced the saga around the haunted dredges in a Skeleton Creek, attempted to bridge the gap between technology and works. Amber Larsen , Tom Rowley and Jim Michelson appear in the videos, created by Scholastic Works and Pc Studio and directed by Emmy Prize winning filmmaker Jeffrey Townsend.
